Master of computer Applications is a professional Master's degree in computer science awarded in India. The duration of the course in three years, that is, of six semesters. The course was primarily designed to meet the growing demand of professionals in the industry of information technology. It is a post gradutate course that could be taken after obtaining a bachelor's degree from a relevant field. The course main focus is on theoritical aspects of computer science as well as a little bit practical exposure on relevant areas. It is intended to provide a mordern industry oriented approach to computer science, however, as most of the institutions lags atleast a decade behind from what current technolgies are used in industry. It aims at producing trained professionals who can successfully meet the demands of the industry but that is just for saying. In practicality these would never meet up with the demands.

Typically a full three year course of M.C.A. will cover various aspects of computational theory, programming, algorithm design and optimization, network and database management, mobile technologies, electronics, mathematics, probability, statistics, accounting, finance, etc.



Eligibility

Most MCA institutes accepts mathematics as a subject in high school (+2 , grade 11th and 12th). Apart from this they alsor require a minimum of 50% marks in graduation. Admissions are given on the basis of written entrance test, personal interview and group discussion. There are state and national level MCA exams conducted annually, NIMCET being one of the promiment ones. On rare cases a student who hasn't studied mathematics in high school could still get admissions in places like Delhi university provided that the student has scored above 55% of marks in graduation
